BMC (bulk molding compound = wet polyester) is a special material and production process, very similar to injection molding that bridges the gap between injection molding and composites production. In this production process, materials similar to composites are processed in an automated molding process. The resulting parts have similar mechanical properties to thermoplastic moldings, but thermal, chemical and electrical characteristics close to composites. Thus, BMC offers the design freedom and the cost of thermoplastics for the production of composites.

Since 2010, Dasyc has steadily expanded its capabilities in BMC (Bulk Molding Compound) processing. In July 2012, we installed a new Krauss-Maffei KM-CX 300-1400 PolySet injection molding machine at our facility in Greece, dedicated to wet polyester BMC applications. This investment—part of a million-euro equipment package—complemented two earlier PolySet machines commissioned in 2010 and 2011. All machines are integrated with an automatic de-flashing system from Rösler (Switzerland), forming Greece’s first fully operational, semi-automated BMC production line for high-performance thermoset parts. As of 2025, this line continues to serve demanding electrical and automotive applications across Europe.
